What is Kombucha?

Many celebrities enjoy Kombucha for their beauty and health. Do you actually know what kombucha is? Kombucha (also know as tea mushroom) is a fermented drink with bacteria.

Where does kombucha come from?

The very real Kombucha recipe was imported from eastern Europe to Japan in the mid 70’s. At that time it became a huge boom for making Kombucha at home in Japan. Because you only need tea, sugar and a piece of Mycelium and you can keep making kombucha.

Is this actually good?

People drank it to expect having living bacteria which is “probiotic”. It contains amino acids, polyphenols, and various other organic acids. There is not yet enough research on how kombucha actually benefits our bodies. And you better take care to not drink moldy home made kombucha, because it is easy to get mold during the fermentation process.

Factory made kombucha

Nowadays a lot of people buy factory made Kombucha. It might be that most of the useful bacterias are already dead after heat treatments during the bottling process. But you still can enjoy nice strawberry or mango flavor as a casual drink. So you have make sure what you expect from Kombucha.
